IAN PARKER says that The Joy of Sex was 'the inspired coining of Comfort's publisher, James Mitchell' ('The grand old man of sex', Sunday Review, 2 October). Not so. The late James Mitchell was my publisher too, and I had submitted to him a book written entirely in monosyllables, entitled Joy in Sex. James called it a tour de force but considered it was years ahead of its time, with all those Anglo-Saxon words. 'However,' he said, 'you have a brilliant title.'
