Sir: The Independent recently illustrated a feature about pain relief in labour with a photograph of a naked woman (21 October). Was the fact that she was pregnant supposed to make this acceptable, and if so, why? The paper now boasts that it has appointed a female picture editor ("Sun executive attacks press portrayal of women", 29 November). It doesn't take a woman to spot whether someone is wearing any clothes or not.
