Sir: The forced body modification of healthy unconsenting minors is unethical, whatever the reason. Doctors who genitally mutilate their patients for no therapeutic reason, contravene the axiom primum non nocere - "First, do no harm". The NHS Executive stated in 1995 that, "male circumcision on religious or social grounds is not an appropriate NHS service".
