Sir: I enjoyed John Sutherland's characteristically provocative view on "why the Bard still matters" ("Unshakeable appeal", 18 September). But when he complains of American domination of the Shakespeare industry and notes that "An American, Peter Holland, heads the British Shakespeare Institute", he goes too far. Sorry, John, but I'm British, even if, like so many other Shakespeare academics, I do seem to spend a lot of time in the States and didn't see the piece until I stepped off the plane from Boston.
