The second summer music festival in and around the Anglican and Roman Catholic shrines opens tonight with a recital by Phyllis Bryn-Julson. During its nine days it alternates concerts with musically high-powered services: liturgical peaks include a Memorial Pilgrim Mass with music by Herbert Howells, and a special commission from Paul Johnson for the Festival Service.
