FINAL chance is coming up to book for the Classical Music Awards 1994, to be held at the Royal Albert Hall in London this Friday, in association with Kenwood and supported by the BBC Music Magazine and the Independent. Evelyn Glennie and Melvyn Bragg introduce the ceremony and concert, with the English Chamber Orchestra; and winners - including the Personality of the Year voted for by readers of this paper - will attend and also perform. Other awards were decided by an international panel of judges under the chairmanship of Andreas Whittam Smith, editor of the Independent.

Readers are offered a 30 per cent discount on tickets for the gala evening, which starts at 7.30pm: pounds 35 tickets at pounds 24.50, pounds 25 at pounds 17.50, and pounds 15 at pounds 10.50 (subject to a small booking fee - call 071-403 3331, quoting this offer). BBC 2 broadcasts the Awards next Saturday, and a full report will be published in the following Monday's paper.
