Alexa Chung: 'Lana Del Rey's lyrics are fantastic'

Music

Music, bands, music, bands. I have a problem with drums and guitars. I always, regardless of how good the band is, want to be standing right at the front.

I like the way a good rock band makes your body vibrate. That said, I'm currently very much enjoying Lana Del Rey's album Ultraviolence. 10/10 for the album title. Beyond that her lyrics are fantastic.

Television

I don't own a TV, I just want to be upfront with you. So most of my television watching is done on the plane or in the back of New York taxis (they have something called Taxi TV - that and BA's “sky map” are my favourite channels). I just saw True Detective on a flight from London to LA and it blew my mind. I want to rewatch it so I can write down choice quotes.

Visual Arts

I just went to see the Dennis Hopper photography exhibition at the Royal Academy of Art. The images are beautiful and range from pictures he took of Jane Fonda larking around with a bow and arrow to stark photographs of Hells Angels molls. If that's what they're called?

Films

I love Palo Alto by Gia Coppola. My friend Dev Hynes did the soundtrack and performed it live at the screening. It's a coming-of-age story set in LA based on James Franco's poetry, which sounds questionable but it is very brilliant. It perfectly captures the awkward, fumbling beginnings of teen love.
