Fassine reveal new track 'Palio' - premiere
Electronic trio Fassine are about to release their new album Gourami - ahead of that we thought we'd give you a sneak preview.
'Palio' is a gorgeous, minimalist track - think Portishead's downbeat disquiet on Dummy with a touch of UNKLE's cinematic grandeur.
Check out the premiere of the lyric video below and read our Q&A with the band:
Q&A with Fassine
What are you listening to at the moment?
We’ve been listening to the fantastic poet and musician Aidan Moffat. Also on the playlist is Oneohtrix Point Never - The Pure and the Damned ft. Iggy Pop, Utopia and National Treasure Composer Cristobal Tapia de Veer, Israel’s Izabo & Guy Garvey’s ‘Courting The Squall’. We have been listening to the Clive Merrison and Michael Williams versions of the Sherlock Holmes stories. Other than Jeremy Brett, Merrison is the definitive Holmes.
What are your plans for the rest of the year?
We are performing our new album Gourami LIVE in Manchester and London in the coming weeks and are then recording some live videos in the studio too.
We are very excited to be featuring in a new documentary this Autumn celebrating one of our favourite bands. Then it’s onto the next collection of songs.
What was the first gig you ever played and what’s been the best so far?
We don’t play too often, when we do, we devote all our fire to these shows. The live set up is growing and growing and we look to perform some tracks with an orchestra.
See Fassine play live at the following dates:
Manchester: Night & Day 21 July
London: Sebright Arms 22 July
New Album ‘Gourami’ out 28th July
