American singer Tara Priya has been tipped for big things pretty much every year since 2011 but is doing things at her own pace.

What are you listening to at the moment?

Today I've been listening to En Vogue “My Lovin”, Ronika “Principle” and NxWorries (Anderson .Paak & Knxwledge) “Yes Lawd!” I'm moving flat in the rain, so I need high energy music (and more than a few coffees) to keep me going!

What are your plans for 2017?

2017 is all about new music! I'm so excited to show people what I've been working on over the past year. There will definitely be song releases and gigs coming your way.

What was the first gig you ever played and what's been the best so far?

The first real gig I did was at a club called Pianos in New York City. I had just finished uni and all my friends came down to support me. I was so, so nervous.

The best shows are the ones where you feel really connected with the audience. You can be in a dive bar with just a few people or a rammed club, as long as people are moved or dancing, it's ace.

Last year, I played the Old Blue Last in Shoreditch and it was so fun! It was packed and hot and sweaty, everyone was dancing and singing along - basically perfect. My next gig is at Birthdays in Dalston, London on the 15th November, and I'm really excited about that. It's a great venue and always has a nice crowd.
