Glastonbury founder Michael Eavis has revealed he wasn’t at Kanye West’s controversial Saturday night headline performance and says he “isn’t a fan of that kind of music”.

Eavis, who runs the Worthy Farm festival with his daughter Emily Eavis, instead spent last night watching The Moody Blues and was even invited to perform alongside the band.

Asked what he thought of Kanye’s headline performance - which has drawn a mixed response from the critics — Eavis told NME: "I was going to ask you. I wasn't there, I was at the Moody Blues. I was on-stage for the last song. Do you know 'Question'?. Fantastic song. What a privilege eh?”

His evening on the Acoustic Stage means he entirely missed rapper Kanye’s 2-hour performance hour performance during which he appeared mostly alone on the Pyramid Stage.

The rapper, whose billing as headliner attracted a petition signed by more than 135,000 calling for him to be replaced by a rock band, appeared unaffected by the controversy describing himself to the crowd as “the greatest living rock star on the planet.”

Eavis reportedly said he “was not a fan of that kind of music” but was pleased that Kanye’s set “had gone down reasonably well”.

Emily Eavis previously revealed that she received death threats following the announcement that Kanye had been booked as headliner.
