The Strokes covered The Clash’s classic London Calling hit "Clampdown" at this year's Governors Ball in New York.

"Here's a Clash song we used to cover. Thought we would do it again," lead singer Julian Casablancas told fans on Friday during the first night of the three-day festival.

The co-headliners also played songs from their first four albums while adding new material to their lineup from their newly released the Future Present Past EP.

Casablancas and company also honored artist Brett Kilroe, who previously designed artwork for the band and passed away earlier this year.

“My wife said something really cool," Casablancas began, “He knew everybody better than they knew themselves.”

The Strokes started their set nearly twenty minutes late, but when fans requested an encore, they capped their performance with the First Impressions of Earth single “You Only Live Once.”
