Montreal indie band Arcade Fire, which just released chart-topping album The Suburbs, holds its spot as the most popular act on The Hype Machine on August 11. Montreal funk duo Chromeo is in second, followed by Swedish pop singer Robyn, while Ducktails and How to Dress Well are both new to the top ten.

Ducktails is the one-man psychedelic pop project of Matthew Mondanile, guitarist for New Jersey rock band Real Estate. This fall the artist is set to release Ducktails III: Arcade Dynamics, his third LP, and he has just shared the track "Hamilton Road" from that album. The New Gay (thenewgay.net) calls the track "instantly familiar for any Real Estate fan, as the guitar line could have been taken from any of their tracks... but where his other band is fully formed, Ducktails adds a layer of haze on the track letting it wrap around your head and get stuck in it."

How to Dress Well is Tom Krell, a Brooklyn musician and research fellow who has released seven EPs of his complex pop music. The artist is set to release a 7" single on August 30 that features two tracks, "Ecstasy with Jojo," which samples Michael Jackson's "Baby Be Mine," and "Take It On." The Line of Best Fit (www.thelineofbestfit.com) writes of "Jojo," "a scatterbrained song structure thrown against the signature sample, coupled with the misty-eyed below-the-deep production quality places it quite some distance from MJ's original."
