Chicago-based indie rock band Smith Westerns is still at the top of the most blogged charts according to The Hype Machine on January 21. Australian electronica group Cut Copy holds second place while British band Broadcast takes third. Also in the top ten: Hooded Fang and Disco Ruido!.

Toronto-based indie band Hooded Fang represents its home turf in the Music Alliance Pact's (MAP) monthly listing of up-and-coming music acts from around the world. Canadian blogger I(Heart)Music (www.iheartmusic.net), who shared the track "Laughing," reviews: "Think of The Strokes. Now think of The Strokes if they slowed things down considerably, but still managed to retain all their cool and catchiness. "

Representing Mexico in this month's MAP listing is Disco Ruido!, which has "made its name in Mexico City's hipster nightlife as a nonstop party combo," writes Mexican blogger Red Bull PanameriKa (redbull.panamerika.fm). Bloggers are passing the band's track "Amorfos," meaning "amorphous" in English, in which the band "explores the enormous legacy of harmonies that dwell in the Mexican collective memory," adds Red Bull PanameriKa.
