Indie artist Sufjan Stevens, who will release his LP The Age of Adz on October 12, remains the most popular act in the blogosphere on September 16, according to The Hype Machine. Rapper Kanye West and experimental art rock band Warpaint take second and third, while other top acts include Marnie Stern and The Radio Dept.

The Los Angeles all-female rock troupe Warpaint just released a new single from its upcoming October 25 full-length release, The Fool. The single, "Undertow," is described as "a slow-building barn burner" by blogger Everybody Taste (http://www.everybodytaste.com). "'Undertow' is a beautiful song that displays the band's abilty to craft intricate melodies," blogs We All Want Someone To Shout For (http://www.weallwantsomeone.org). "These girls got it going on."

New York rocker Marnie Stern is back in the blogs after being chosen to represent the US this month in the Music Alliance Pact, a collaboration between 35 bloggers from around the world who share tracks by up-and-coming acts in their home countries. Her new single, "Transparency Is the New Mystery," was selected by blogger I Guess I'm Floating (http://www.iguessimfloating.net) as an "awesome jam, from heart-pounding drums and shrilling vocals to the shreddable guitar - Stern's doing edgy rock and roll right."

Swedish indie rockers The Radio Dept. released a new political song, "The New Improved Hypocrisy," free on Labrador Records' website, just in time for the Swedish general election on Sunday, September 19. Blogger The Needle Drop (http://www.theneedledrop.com) describes the single as a "lyrical swing at government," adding, "for someone like myself who believes a greedy political class is what's impeding society's progress, it hits pretty close to home." "The lyrics speak a thousands words," blogs The Line of Best Fit (http://www.thelineofbestfit.com). "As can be expected from The Radio Dept., the quality hasn't dipped one bit since this year's incredible Clinging To A Scheme."
