Adele live: Watch the moment fans save the day after sound cuts out at gig

All she asks is for a working PA system

Adele’s fans have proved themselves among the most dedicated after saving the day when sound cut out at the singer’s Birmingham gig.

The Oscar winner was performing “All I Ask” from her latest album 25 at the Genting Arena on Saturday when technical difficulties struck, leaving her inaudible halfway through the song.

Adele carried on singing, unaware that the venue’s sound system had failed as her earpiece continued to work. When thousands of fans began singing along at the top of their lungs, she was evidently surprised.

“Why did you all start cheering midway through? I thought there was a streaker on stage, what was that?” she asked after finishing the track, before a fan shouted out what had happened.

“The sound went off?! The PA f**king cut off?! Oh f**king ‘ell. Well I didn’t cut off in me ears, I could hear myself!” she said, joking that those in the front row enjoyed a “private concert”.

“Tell ‘em I weren’t miming, they might think I was miming! Every f**king show I sing live, never mimed in me life.”

Adele suffered technical difficulties earlier this year when performing at the Grammys. She was left sounding out of tune after a microphone fell onto piano strings and ended up “crying all day” following the show.

The “Hello” singer has now finished her UK tour but heads to Europe on 29 April for a string of gigs until 15 June. She then returns to headline Glastonbury Festival alongside Coldplay and Muse.
