Ariana Grande restarts song during live performance so fan can record it on his phone

Ariana Grande restarted a song for an audience member because he wanted to record the whole thing on his phone.

The moment took place as the artist debuted a live performance of her new album Sweetener at the special hangout with her fans on 25 August, as part of 'The Sweetener Sessions' with American Express.

The pop singer had already begun the performance of her song "Raindrops" at an intimate concert at the 1,600 capacity Ace Theatre in Los Angeles when someone shouted that they had not been recording.

In fan-shot video footage, Grande was then seen halting the song to ask: “Did you just say 'start again I wasn’t recording? I listen.”

After confirming everyone was ready and even apologising for not waiting longer, Grande was cheered on by her audience as she started her second rendition.

The fan in question later tweeted the video with the caption: "OMG I SAID WAIT I WASNT READY START AGAIN AND ARIANA F****** HEARD ME AND STARTED AGAIN!!!! [sic]."

One Twitter user replied: "Lmaoooo yaasss! A true queen listening to her people".

"A true angel. She has a heart of gold," another fan wrote.

The show also saw Grande being introduced to the stage by her fiancée, actor and comedian Pete Davidson. The couple's engagement was confirmed by Davidson in June after he appeared in an interview with Jimmy Fallon.

Grande's album Sweetener was released on 17 August and marked her third No.1 album on the Billboard 200 chart, as well as a UK No.1. She sold 231,000 equivalent units, which is the second best sales week for a female solo artist this year, behind rapper Cardi B’s debut Invasion of Privacy.

Reviewing for The Independent, Kate Solomon criticised the album for being “drowned in producer Pharrell Williams’ bubblemint bounce” and even “in danger of sounding more like his record than Grande’s.” However, she praised Grande's work as “a reminder of the sheer brilliance of her voice, so full of enthusiasm for humanity” and ability to exude “warmth and wit”.
