A$AP Rocky: US rapper charged with assault in Sweden as he remains in custody
Artist will remain in custody pending trial after being arrested and charged over a fight that took place in Stockholm

A$AP Rocky has been charged with assault over a fight in Sweden, where he will remain in custody.
The Swedish Prosecutor’s Office said the rapper, who has been detained in the country since 3 July, has been charged with aggravated assault over his alleged involvement in a fight in Stockholm and is to remain in custody pending trial.
Rocky, born Rakim Mayers, had previously denied the assault allegation and posted videos of an altercation on his Instagram account, where he alleged that two men had been following his group and harassing them. He also claimed that one of the men had thrown a paid of headphones at his bodyguard.
The Swedish authorities were also investigating one of the alleged victims on suspicion of abuse, assault and attempted assault, but that has since been dropped with no charges being brought.
Rocky’s mother Renee Black told TMZ on 24 July: “I feel like Sweden is making an example out of him and it’s so unjust, but yeah, they’re making an example.”
“I don’t wanna pull the race card, but that’s what it’s looking like,” she added.
Since Rocky’s initial arrest, President Donald Trump has promised to support the rapper’s return to the US.
A date has not yet been set for trial.
