Australian band Hillsong United today became the first act to top the newly launched Official Christian and Gospel Albums Chart.

The group head the list - created by the Official Charts Company - with their third studio album Zion.

The band said it was "humbling and exciting" to know the album was inspiring people, and added: "In a world where negativity is so dominant, we hope Zion can be a sound of joy and hope."

The weekly chart is being published each Monday. The Official Charts Company said it was put together "in recognition of growing interest in the musical genre".
