Britney Spears: Kevin Federline shares thoughts on singer’s conservatorship following documentary release

Britney Spears’ former husband Kevin Federline has spoken out about the singer’s conservatorship following the release of the Framing Britney Spears documentary.

The documentary, which was released on Saturday (6 February) in the US, explores the pop star’s ongoing battle with her father, Jamie Spears, regarding the control that her conservatorship gives him over her professional and personal life.

Spears is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday (11 February) as part of the ongoing trial to have her father removed as her conservator and make her care manager Jodi Montgomery her sole conservator.

Speaking on behalf of rapper Federline, who has two children with Britney, attorney Mark Vincent Kaplan told Page Six: “I think Kevin feels that there seems to be a lot of commotion going on right now, and he trusts that the probate court is going to make orders that they feel are appropriate to protect Britney and her estate.”

Federline’s lawyer said that he felt that Montgomery was “doing a very good job”, adding: “As far as what’s going on with respect to the conservator of the person, he doesn’t have any comment on that.

“All he cares about is making sure that, whatever the arrangement is, the boys are always safe and their best interest able to be maintained regardless of which parent is in their custodial care.”

Federline, who was married to Britney from 2004 to 2007, shares two teenage sons with the singer, Sean, 15, and Jayden, 14.

In 2019, Federline was granted 70 per cent custody of their children after an alleged physical altercation took place between Jamie and Britney’s eldest son. While criminal charges were dropped, a restraining order between Britney’s sons and their grandfather remains in place.

The Framing Britney Spears documentary has shocked viewers around the world and renewed interest in the #FreeBritney movement.
