Britney Spears’ makeup artist claims there is ‘Handmaid’s Tale’ plot against pop star having a baby

Britney Spears’s make-up artist has claimed that Britney Spears would have had another child were it not for a “Handmaid’s Tale-type” plot to prevent her from doing so.

Appearing on the Calababes podcast, celebrity cosmetician Maxi alleged that the “Toxic” singer, who has two children, had wanted to have a baby with boyfriend Sam Asghari, but is being prevented by her conservatorship.

Explaining why he supported the #FreeBritney movement, which is seeking to remove the conservatorship, Maxi said that “anyone with a heart” should care about Spears’s wellbeing.

“I can tell you what they’re still controlling to this day is whether she has a baby or not, whether she gets married or not, who her friends are and those are some big things,” Maxi claimed, describing Asghari as one of his “closest friends”.

“We’re talking about some Handmaid’s Tale-type things to keep her from having a baby. Like, we’re talking– I can’t detail it and I’m not gonna specifically say, but I will say for sure, she would’ve had a baby by now. She would’ve probably been married to Sam by now. She would have groups of friends around her.”

However, Maxi also claimed that members of the #FreeBritney movement often got caught up in baseless conspiracy theories, including that Asghari is being paid by Jamie Spears or the conservatorship.

“It’s bad enough already, no-one needed any fake news or conspiracies added on top of how bad it is,” Maxi said.

The Independent has contacted Spears’s representatives for comment.

Spears has been under her conservatorship, where a guardian or protector is appointed by a court to manage the life of someone due to physical or mental limitations, since 2008. It was managed by her father for 12 years.

Earlier this month, the singer’s lawyer compared Spears to a “comatose patient” during a legal hearing, claiming that while she was by no means unconscious, she was not capable of signing a legal document and could instead have a lawyer speak on her behalf.
