Clean Bandit hit 'Rather Be' named most streamed song of 2014

Clean Bandit's chart-topping hit "Rather Be" has been named the UK's most streamed song of the year so far.

Featuring Jess Glynne's vocals, the song has been streamed an impressive 32 million times on services such as Spotify, Deezer and Napster since its release in January.

"Rather Be" spent four weeks at number one on the Official UK Singles Chart and helped the classical-pop quartet make their breakthrough.

Pharrell Williams' "Happy" follows in second place with 30 million streams after becoming the UK's most downloaded track of all time last month.

"All of Me" by John Legend is the third most-streamed song, with Mr Probz's "Waves" and Pitbull and Kesha's "Timber" completing the top five.

Sam Smith has two tracks in the top ten: "Money On My Mind" at number seven and "Stay With Me" at number ten.

Magic!'s "Rude" was the most streamed song of the summer with 13 million streams between July and September while George Ezra's "Budapest" and Ed Sheeran's "Sing" took second and third place.

"Rather Be" has proved so popular that it now sits just behind Bastille's "Pompeii" on the UK's most-streamed track ever list, according to the Official Charts Company.

In 2014 to date, a massive 10.2 billion tracks have been streamed in the UK – close to double the figure from this time last year.
