While we had to wait 10 years for David Bowie’s last record, The Next Day, there’ll be no such wait for the next one.

According to The Times, Bowie will release his 26th album, titled Blackstar, 8 January, 2016, marking his 69th birthday. It will be seven songs long and span 45 minutes.

Its 10-minute title track will reportedly be released 19 November, and a snippet of the track will act as the theme tune for Sky Atlantic’s TV show, The Last Panthers. Listen below.

An insider told The Times the album will contain "Gregorian chants, a soul section, various electronic beats and bleeps and Bowie's distinctive vocals,” and sounds "completely bonkers.”

Another source said it was "an album of long, jazzy jams mixed with the kind of driving beat pioneered by Seventies German bands Can and Kraftwerk."

Blackstar was recorded at the Magic Shop studio in New York with a host of local jazz musicians. As yet there has been no confirmation from David Bowie’s camp.
