LFO singer Devin Lima has died of cancer at the age of 41.

The performer – real name Harold Lima – had been diagnosed with stage four adrenal cancer in October last year.

His mother Filomena Lima confirmed his death to Us Weekly, telling the publication: “His fiancée was living with him and let us know that he passed at 2.45am in the morning."

She added: "He was struggling for 13 months since his cancer diagnosis. The family is not good.”

Lima passed away early on Wednesday morning according to TMZ, who first reported the news of his death.

Along with Brad Fischetti, Lima was part of the boy band LFO. The group originally had three members. Its lead singer Rich Cronin died in 2010 of leukaemia.

Fischetti had shared Lima's cancer diagnosis to their fans in a YouTube video on 30 October, 2017.

“Devin asked me to give you this update without him because, frankly, he’s just not feeling very well,” Fischetti said in the clip, which was filmed after Lima had surgery.

“But he asked me to send you his love and gratitude for all the love and prayers you guys have sent his way.

"He’s had a tough recovery. He had a few really difficult days in the hospital.”

Fischetti explained at the time that Lima's cancer had spread to one of the singer's kidney, which had been removed.

Lima was preparing to undergo chemotherapy and radiation therapy.

LFO (which stands for Lyte Funkie Ones) began in New Bedford, Massachusetts. The original line-up included Fischetti, Cronin, and Brian Gillis.

Gillis left the group in 1999 and Lima joined following his departure.

The band, which sold more than four million records across the world, is best known for its songs Summer Girls, Girl on TV, both released in 1999, and Every Other Time, which came out in 2001.

LFO released its second and last album, Life is Good, in 2001 before breaking up in 2002.

Fischetti and Lima brought the band back for a single called Perfect 10, which debuted in July 2017.
