Ed Sheeran responds after being attacked for 'slobby' outfit during Beyonce duet
'Follow hoax1994 for more of my amazing fashion choices'
Ed Sheeran has jokingly responded to those who criticised him for being too dressed down while duetting with Beyoncé.
An image of the internationally famous singers performing at the Global Citizen Festival: Mandela 100 in Johannesburg went viral as commenters acknowledged the contrast of Sheeran’s T-shirt and jeans combination against Beyoncé’s flamboyant pink dress.
The 27-year-old “Shape of You” singer saw the funny side, posting an instagram story featuring an image of the offending T-shirt – featuring the logo HOAXUKSINCE94 – alongside a purchase link. Continuing the joke, Sheeran later posted: “Follow hoax1994 for more of my amazing fashion choices x.’”
Those who criticised the outfit referred to Sheeran as a “slob” with many asking if the “signature look” was a “joke”.
Were it not for various articles written about the backlash, Sheeran would likely have not known about the criticism as he does not go on Twitter.
“I’ve actually come off Twitter completely,” he said last year. ”I can’t read it. I go on it and there’s nothing but people saying mean things. Twitter’s a platform for that. One comment ruins your day. But that’s why I’ve come off it.”
