Ed Sheeran has reached the top of the UK singles charts with his track ‘Thinking Out Loud’ again, knocking Take That’s These Days off number one.

‘Thinking Out Loud’ first reached number one at the start of November and now it has returned once more.

The romantic track also narrowly stopped Union J’s new single ‘You Got It All’ from reaching number one by selling 13,000 more copies than the boy band ballad.

‘Thinking Out Loud’ has made the longest ascent to number one in the history of the Official Charts. The song spent 19 weeks in the top 40 before it reached number one last month.

Sheeran may have toppled them in the singles charts but Take That claimed their sixth number one studio album with III.

This is Gary Barlow, Mark Owen and Howard Donald's first record since becoming a trio following the departure of Jason Orange back in September.

Their album was released this week and has racked up sales of 145,000 over the past seven days.
