Former X Factor contestant Ella Henderson has topped the UK album charts with her debut album Chapter One.

The record, which features the singles 'Ghosts' and 'Glow', has sold over 160,000 to beat its nearest rival and claim the top spot.

"Being Number 1 with my very first album is where a dream has met reality- it's a moment in time I will never forget,” Henderson said.

The singer’s debut single ‘Ghosts’ went to number one back in June and has become one of the fastest selling songs this year.

Hailing from Tetney in Lincolnshire, Henderson rose to fame after competing on X Factor back in 2012 and finished in sixth place.

The other new entry this week is Jessie J’s Sweet Talker, which has charted at number five. The third studio album from The Voice judge has received mixed reviews from the critics.

Meanwhile in the UK singles chart, Meghan Trainor has done it again. The American singer-songwriter has retained her place at the top with her song ‘All About That Bass’. The song promotes positive body image and has now been at number one for a third week.

Taylor Swift’ 'Shake it out' has climbed two places, closely followed by One Direction’s 'Steal My Girl' but both have been unable to topple Meghan Trainor.
