This morning co-organiser of the Glastonbury Festival Emily Eavis asked Twitter who they would like to see at next year's event.

"Right, the time has come to ask you all who you want to see at next years (sic) Glastonbury..let us know as we gather all our ideas and get going!" she tweeted from the account @EmilyEavis.

Twitters responded thick and fast. Among the suggestions were Mercury Prize nominee Richard Hawley, Elbow, Pulp, Stone Roses and relative newcomer (and star of the Olympics 2012 Opening Ceremony) Frank Turner.

She demurred over a suggestion for nineties band Revolver (if they could be persuaded to get back together, that is), tweeting at bassist Hamish Brown: "A hard call. So big in so many ways, but too close to home to judge!"

Other suggested acts include The Rolling Stones, Prince and David Bowie.

Glastonbury has been criticised in the past for going to mainstream with headliners such as Lily Allen, Jay-Z, Dizzee Rascal and U2.

The festival didn't go ahead this year and Emily's father, Michael Eavis, stepped down as its co-organiser.
