Eminem endorses Biden with powerful 'Lose Yourself' ad

Eminem fans are claiming Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden’s win in Michigan as a feat helped in large part by their favourite rapper.

While Biden has received plenty of endorsements from celebrities, Eminem and Beyoncé were two of the most high-profile to come through with last-second endorsements.

Eminem – one of Detroit’s biggest cultural exports – lent his biggest song, “Lose Yourself” to a Biden/Harris campaign spot.

“We have one shot. One opportunity. One moment. Don't miss the chance — vote,” Biden tweeted along with the music video, which Eminem also shared from his own social media channels.

Fans of the rapper are now joking (but perhaps not completely) that Eminem’s co-sign helped turn Michigan from a red state to blue, taking it back after incumbent president Donald Trump’s 2016 win.

Biden’s success comes after Trump brought out rapper Lil Pump, a Miami native, at his rally in Michigan. Lil Pump’s endorsement of Trump was hugely controversial – particularly after it emerged that Lil Pump tweeted against Trump in 2016.

Biden won Michigan with 50.3 per cent of votes. However, Trump is furiously demanding recounts in key states, and filed a lawsuit to stop ballots from being counted in Michigan.

His tantrums have been compared by many to plot points featured in episodes of the fifth season of political satire show Veep.

Rihanna, who has collaborated with Eminem on a number of occasions and is a fellow Biden supporter, tweeted on Wednesday 4 November for Americans to be patient with vote-counting.
