Ewan McGregor and Gary Oldman take to the stage at David Bowie tribute concert
McGregor covered "Heroes," a song he sang in 2001 film Moulin Rouge
A concert honouring David Bowie took place in LA on Monday (8 February) with actors Ewan McGregor and Gary Oldman taking to the stage to pay tribute to the late musician.
Held at The Roxy, fans watched on as renditions of Bowie's most famous tracks were performed in front of them.
Scottish actor McGregor gave a heartfelt rendition of "Heroes," the same song he sang in Baz Luhrmann's 2001 film Moulin Rouge.
Gary Oldman also took to the stage, singing the musician's 1970 classic "The Man Who Sold the World."
The actor had previously worked with Bowie after starring in the controversial music video for his song "The Next Day" in 2013 opposite Marion Cotillard.
Other stars who paid tribute to Bowie included Mike Garson, the pianist behind the acclaimed solo in "Aladdin Sane," who performed the accompaniment for the first time in 20 years. He was later joined by Seal for a rendition of the singer's 2003 track "Bring Me the Disco King."
David Bowie passed away on 10 January, two days after his 69th birthday, which saw the release of his 25th studio album Blackstar; the record has since gone on to top the charts on both sides of the pond.
