Fall Out Boy criticised for 'bizarre' film showing Princess Diana at UK concerts
The montage of Princess Diana's funeral confused a lot of concertgoers
Fall Out Boy are being slammed for using a montage of Princess Diana's life - including her funeral - as a backdrop at their UK concerts.
The American punk-rock band showed the visuals during their song "Champion" - something they previously did during their US run.
But rock fans didn't understand why the band was using the montage.
A fan at the Cardiff show on Wednesday described the setting to The Sun, "During the gig images of Diana were displayed culminating in a short film chronicling her final journey from the Ritz in Paris, her funeral and even the Queen's Speech from Buckingham Palace."
The film also showed images of Princess Diana on her wedding day to Prince Charles.
He continued saying that when people realised what was happening, "some went quiet and started shuffling" and were "wishing the next song would come on."
The fan added, "It was totally bizarre, more than a little creepy. There seemed to be no explanation for Di's haunting appearance at the gig. What were they thinking?"
People also voiced their confusion on social media.
One Twitter user wrote, "Genuinely still confused about fall out boy using images of princess Diana and prince harry last night?? Why???"
Another individual asked if the American tour got a montage of JFK.
In the past, Fall Out Boy's bassist and songwriter Pete Wentz has described their band's music as "cinematic," so perhaps that's what he was going for with the film.
Fall Out Boy are currently on tour in the UK.
They will play on London on Saturday.
