After promising and re-promising a reunion tour and new film, Brett McKenzie and Jemaine Clement are finally getting the band back together to headline a US Folk Festival.

Flight of the Conchords will headline the Friday night of Newport Folk Festival, their first official US date in over three years. Also playing the festival is Father John Misty, Villagers, Raury and Ray Lamontagne.

With the festival announcement, many believe the pair could be readying themselves for a full tour, which would be their first since playing the Funny or Die Oddball Festival in 2013.

In August last year, the duo announced they had started writing a film, with Clement adding: “Who knows if it will ever be made, we've written some notes for some different film ideas.

“We're not down to the stage where we're going, ‘The film is going to be like this,’ it could be this, this, this, this, this.”

Despite its cult popularity, the Flight of the Conchords TV series only ran for two seasons on HBO, and has yet to be renewed. However, with a the band reformed, and Murray presumably back as manager, perhaps we can expect some big news some time soon. We can only hope
