Glastonbury: Coldplay to headline Live at Worthy Farm live stream, Emily Eavis announces
Event will ‘help secure’ return of festival in 2022
Emily Eavis has announced a contingent Glastonbury event set to take place in May.
Named Live at Worthy Farm, the event will see bands perform direct from the festival site in Somerset.
Ticket owners will then be able to stream the performances in what is being described as a “global event”.
Among the artists set to play include Coldplay, who are the only act to have headlined Glastonbury four times before.
Damon Albarn, Haim and Michael Kiwanuka will also play on stages positioned around the festival site.

“It’s going to be like the festival but without the people,” Eavis told BBC Radio 2.
“What we’re hoping is that people watch this from home, and they have a moment and get into the spirit of the festival.”
The event, which will hooked together with “a spoken word narrative, written and delivered by some very special guests”, is being directed by Paul Douglas, who oversaw the world tours of Taylor Swift and Ariana Grande.
Proceeds for Live at Worthy Farm will support the festival’s three chosen charities, Oxfam, Greenpeace and WaterAid, and will also “help secure its return in 2022”.
Organisers were forced to cancel Glastonbury, which attracts around 200,000 visitors, for a second year running due to the government’s continuation of lockdowns amid the pandemic.
Swift, Kendrick Lamar and Paul McCartney were due to headline the event in 2020.
Speaking on BBC Radio 2, Eavis said that “there will be a different line-up” when the festival returns next year, but promised that bands that appeared on the original bill will also perform.
“So we’ve got a different line-up but there are some things you’ll recognise as well,” she said.
Tickets for Live at Worthy Farm, which will take place on 22 May, are on sale now.
