It is a truth universally acknowledged that the Grammys would not be the Grammys without at least one truly bizarre moment.

From Nicki Minaj turning up with the Pope to Lady Gaga making her grand entrance in a plastic egg before 'hatching' live on stage, the US music awards ceremony is always memorable.

Last year saw Kanye pretend to interrupt another acceptance speech while 2014 featured Queen Latifah marrying 33 couples to the tune of "Same Love" by Macklemore & Ryan Lewis (helped by Madonna). Then of course there was Taylor Swift's headbanging which seemingly had all of Twitter talking.

Beyoncé and Tina Turner's 2008 duet caused the sisterhood to self-combust with excitement while a heavily-pregnant MIA's performance of "Swagga Like Us" on her due date earned the singer serious sass points.

Kendrick Lamar, Justin Bieber and Adele are among the performers this year, but the star of the show is tipped to be Lady Gaga with her "experimental" tribute to the late, great David Bowie.
