Ice Cube says Biden administration has contacted him about plan to address systemic racism

Ice Cube released his Contract with Black America in July 2020 as a way to 'strike at the heart of racism'

Rapper Ice Cube says Joe Biden's administration has contacted him to discuss his Contract with Black America, an anti-racism plan he has previously put forward.

Ice Cube told radio host Ryan Cameron about the exchange in a recent interview on Majic Atlanta.

Asked whether the Biden administration has made contact with him, Ice Cube said: "Yesterday, they reached out to me."

He said he and the administration "haven't talked yet" but are planning to meet. The terms of the meeting remain to be determined.

"I would love to bring some people in," Ice Cube said. "I work with some great people, some great experts who know the root of the problem much better than me. I would love to bring in the specialists I have and the experts I have to see what we can do."

The meeting will likely happen this month, Ice Cube added, although specifics are still being worked out.

"Whatever needs to be done, I'm down to do it," he said.

The rapper released his Contract with Black America in July 2020 as a way to "strike at the heart of racism and present a blueprint to achieve racial economic justice".

Earlier in the interview, Ice Cube said he's not interested into getting politics, adding that he's "singularly focused" and "only worried about our community at this point".

"I need to focus on our community, because we're so far behind in this society," he added. "There are so many obstacles put up against us."

Ice Cube also addressed criticism he previously faced for working with the Trump administration, telling Cameron: "I know at the end of the day, whether a Democrat or a Republican is in the White House, they're still not looking at our agenda in the right way. We still have to get them to acknowledge and remedy the situation."
