Jay Z appears to address the fallout with his “Watch the Throne” partner Kanye West on new album Everything Is Love – a joint work he released with Beyonce as a Tidal exclusive this weekend.

Fans have been busy dissecting the lyrics already (of course), with one of many burning questions being whether Hov would have bars for West.

On the sixth track “Friends”, Jay definitely seems to allude to their relationship, responding to recent comments about how West was “hurt” when Jay and Beyonce failed to show up at his wedding to Kim Kardashian in 2014.

West spoke about his disappointment at their lack of attendance in an interview with Charlamagne tha God last month.

“Respectfully, I have to say I was hurt that they didn’t come to the wedding,“ he said. “I understand they were going through some things, but if it’s family, you’re not gonna miss a wedding.”

In response, Jay Z raps on “Friends”:

“I ain't going to nobody for nothing when me and my wife beefing
I don't care if the house on fire, I'm dying, nigga, I ain't leaving
Ty Ty take care of my kids, after he done grieving
If ya'll don't understand that, we ain't meant to be friends.”

Jay also talked about his relationship with Kanye during an interview with David Letterman. “That's my brother, we're beyond friends,” he said on the show. “And like your little brother, things happen sometimes.”

You can read more about the lyrics on Everything Is Love here. The album is out now, streaming exclusively via Tidal.
