Jay Z closed his headline set at Staffordshire’s V Festival on Saturday night with a tribute to Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington, who committed suicide last month.
The rapper had worked with the late rock singer in 2004 for the album Collision Course which reached number one in the US Billboard 200 music chart.
Speaking to the crowd at the festival, Jay Z asked: "Can I get some love for Chester tonight?”
He added: "Please make some noise so he can hear you all the way from heaven tonight."
Jay Z then launched into the song Numb/Encore, the single from Collision Course he recorded with the band, and which won a Grammy Award in 2006 for the best rap/sung collaboration.
Bennington’s death was announced on July 20. He was 41-years-old, and the Los Angeles County Coroner confirmed the cause of death was by hanging.
Since his death, several artists have paid tribute to the singer, including Rhianna, Pharrell and Coldplay.
