A new report suggests that rapper Kodak Black is planning to file a lawsuit against the United States Marshals Service for allegedly leaking a photograph of his arrest inside the Miami Dade Police Department last year.

Kodak Black, whose legal name is Bill K Kapri, was arrested at the Rolling Loud music festival in Miami in May 2019 after trying to buy firearms with falsified paperwork.

In November, the 22-year-old rapper was sentenced to 46-months in prison over the incident.

TMZ reports that Kodak’s attorney had assumed a photograph of the musician during his arrest had been leaked to the media by a member of the Miami police department, but an internal investigation determined the source of the alleged leak was more likely a US Marshal.

Documents obtained by TMZ show that a Miami-Dade police officer, who was next to Kodak on the day of his arrest, claimed that he was instructed by a “US Marshal Chief” to take a picture of Kodak in handcuffs, for “law enforcement purposes”.

Kodak’s lawyers allege that the photo was “taken for personal use and/or gain”, and are preparing to take legal action.

A rep for USMS told TMZ they “can’t comment on the situation, but assure us any allegations of misconduct will be thoroughly investigated”.
