Lady Gaga has shared an emotional message with fans after winning the prize for Best Original Music at this year's Baftas.

The actor and musician, who plays Ally in A Star is Born and also performs most of the original songs in the movie, thanked fans for her support ahead of the Grammys, where she is also nominated for several awards.

“I can’t believe we just won Best Original Music @BAFTA ‘s . I wish so much I was there but am at the Grammy’s to show them our love as well," she wrote. ​

“We made a film about music. This means the world to me. Thank u to all our fans we love u so much, we wouldn’t be here without u #BAFTAs.”

Gaga is up for Record of the Year and Song of the Year for "Shallow", which she performs in the movie with her director and co-star Bradley Cooper.

Shortly after the Baftas win, she tweeted her delight at learning that she and Cooper had won their first Grammy of the night, for Best Song Written for Visual Media, and that she had also won a Grammy for Best Pop Solo Performance for "Joanne (Where Do You Think You're Going?)".

"A Grammy for Joanne is more than me & my family could ever dream of," Gaga tweeted, referring to her I sang that version in one take, & poured my entire life & soul into it. Thank you so much for this gift I am completely shocked. 2nd Grammy win of the night I am so overwhelmed by this kindness.
