"Uptown Funk" has become one of the fastest selling singles of all time after Mark Ronson’s track sold over 1 million copies.

The catchy soul-funk song featuring Bruno Mars was released 10 weeks ago and has already broken the million sale mark.

The track is the lead single from Ronson’s album Uptown Special and also holds the record for most audio streams in a week after receiving 2.6 million listens, according to the Official Charts Company. Overall the song has been streamed a whopping 22.8 million times.

“On behalf of myself and Bruno, I just want to thank everybody who bought this record and put us in this club,” Ronson said.

Although the track comes in at number three this week in the UK singles chart, Ronson has described reaching the million sale milestone as “insane” and “amazing”.

Uptown Special is Ronson’s fourth studio album and features two collaborations with Stevie Wonder. The album has been dedicated to the late Amy Winehouse, who the producer worked with extensively.

Ellie Goulding claimed the top spot for a second time with her single “Love Me Like You Do” from the soundtrack for Fifty Shades of Grey. Hozier’s “Take Me To Church” moved up a place to number two.

Meanwhile in the album charts, Sam Smith’s In the Lonely Hour knocked Ed Sheeran’s X off number one. US rapper Drake took third place with his newly released record If You’re Reading This, It’s Too Late.
