Megan Thee Stallion appears to call out Tory Lanez in diss track ‘Shots Fired’

‘I know you want the clout, so I ain't sayin’ y’all names,’ Megan raps on opening track of new album ‘Good News’

Megan Thee Stallion has seemingly made reference to her shooting on the first track of her new album Good News.

Released on Friday (20 November), the 25-year-old’s debut studio album opens with a track titled “Shots Fired”, which fans have suggested is a diss track about fellow rapper Tory Lanez who is currently facing trial accused of shooting her.

The track was released just days after Lanez pleaded not guilty to felony assault charges in regards to Megan’s shooting in July. If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of around 23 years.

On the track – which samples The Notorious BIG’s 1994 track “Who Shot Ya?” – Megan refutes criticism that she is a “snitch”, saying that she “never went to the police with no names”, but later adds that she “should’ve let them lock your a** up”.

She opens with the line: “Imagine n***as lyin’ bout shootin’ a real b***h/ Just to save face for n***as you chill with.”

She also seems to make direct reference to a lyric on Lanez’s recent album Daystar, in which the rapper accused Megan’s “people” of trying to “frame” him and said: “Gotta see a couple questions / How the f*** you get shot in your foot, don’t hit no bones or tendons?”

In response, “Shots Fired” sees Megan claim that the gun was loaded with pellets, with her rapping: “Talkin’ ’bout bones and tendons like them bullets weren’t pellets.”

However, despite criticising Lanez throughout, the rapper’s name isn’t mentioned in the track, with Megan rapping: “I know you want the clout, so I ain't sayin’ y’all names.”

The Independent has contacted Megan and Lanez representatives for comment.

Canadian rapper Lanez was charged in October after months of speculation and publicity surrounding the incident. At first, Los Angeles police reported the incident only as shots fired, a woman with foot injuries, and a man arrested on a weapons allegation.
