London-based post rock trio Messenger have premiered the psychedelic visuals for their ethereal new track “Dear Departure”.

Formed in 2012 by Jaime Gomez Arellano, Khaled Lowe and Barnaby Maddick, the band have garnered a wealth of media attention since their debut album, Illusory Blues, was released by Svart Records in March.

The record was produced by drummer and Orgone Studios founder Jaime Gomez Arellano (the engineer behind LPs by Ghost, Ulver and Cathedral, among others), and showcases the band’s trademark modern take on celestial prog rock, neo-folk and psychedelia.

“Musically, the song tries to convey a natural event of great magnitude; like an earthquake or a storm; a display of the sheer force of nature at its most merciless,” frontman Khaled Lowe said of “Dear Departure”. “It's also a reminder to the self to strive for inner calm after a storm, figuratively speaking.”

“The video uses masking and compositing techniques to show the secret worlds that exist inside our thoughts and dreams; a utopia of sorts and a glimpse into the realms that exist before birth, during life and after death.”

The band are currently on tour with Swedish band Katatonia and are playing the following dates across Europe:

• 8 May, Biebob, Vosselaar – BE

• 9 May, P60, Amstelveen – NL

• 1 May, Christuskirche, Bochum – DE

• 11 May, Freiheiz, Munich – DE

• 12 May, Passionskirche, Berlin – DE

• 13 May, Schuur, Lucerne – CH

• 14 May, Les Docks, Lusanne – CH

• 15 May, Divan Du Monde – FR

• 16 May, Union Chapel, London- UK
