Michael Kiwanuka announces new self-titled album and releases first single
‘Kiwanuka’ is the Mercury-nominated artist’s follow-up to 2016’s ‘Love & Hate’
Mercury-nominated artist Michael Kiwanuka has announced a third album to follow his 2016 chart-topper Love & Hate.
The new album, titled Kiwanuka, will be released on 25 October. It sees the singer-songwriter, whose hit song “Cold Little Heart” is the soundtrack for Big Little Lies, return to the studio with Danger Mouse and Inflo, the duo he worked with on his last album.
He said: “The last album came from an introspective place and felt like therapy, I guess. This one is more about feeling comfortable in who I am and asking what I want to say.
“Like, how could I be bold and challenge myself and the listener? It is about self-acceptance in a more triumphant rather than melancholy way. It’s an album that explores what it means to be a human being today.”
As well as announcing the record, Kiwanuka has released its first single, “You Ain’t the Problem”, which is streaming now.
Kiwanuka has also revealed his UK tour dates for March 2020, starting in Southampton and finishing up in Glasgow.
