Most blogged artists: Gorillaz, Born Ruffians, Nada Surf
On March 1, British alternative/electronic act Gorillaz is the most blogged artist of the moment, according to The Hype Machine. Next in line is Vancouver-based supergroup The New Pornographers, followed by indie folk duo She & Him. Other acts that have climbed into the top ten this week included Born Ruffians and Nada Surf.
Born Ruffians is an indie rock band from Ontario, Canada, that released its first studio album, Red, Yellow & Blue, in 2008. The band's follow-up album, Say It, is due out in June 2010, and the CD's first single, "Sole Brother," was recently released. You Ain't No Picasso (www.youaintnopicasso.com) reviews, "It's a fun, light pop track that plays it cool most of the way through but leads up to everyone in the band just sort of tumbling their voices together. Super cool track."
New York alternative rock band Nada Surf has been performing since 1992, releasing six albums in its 15-year history. The band recently announced the June 8 release of If I Had a High-Fi, which will feature covers of Depeche Mode, Moody Blues, Kate Bush, and others. The band's rendition of Bill Fox's "Electrocution" from that album is currently making its way around the blogosphere.
