London-based newcomer ARLO caught our attention with his recent single "Safe" and has since revealed a new song "Homecoming".

Under a stuttering, woozy beat that becomes more urgent as the track develops; he spits out self-critical lyrics in tones that flit between harsh and honeyed, building up to a beautifully euphoric chorus.

We're premiering the video for "Homecoming" today on The Independent, ahead of ARLO's sold-out headline show at London's Waiting Room: directed by Andrew Morgan with cinematography by Adam Grasso.

Check it out below:

Q&A with ARLO

What are you listening to at the moment?

I’m listening to a lot of new music from eff raps, Majik, Sigrid. I really like Viktor Taiwo, Rationale, Tom Prior and Ms Banks.

I love Adele, Kanye West, love Lorde. I’m a big Terrence Trent D’arby fan.

What are your plans for 2018?

I’m working on my first EP. It will be released later this year. Lots of new music. Lots of shows.

What was the first gig you ever played and what’s been the best so far?

I’m playing my first headline London show in March so I’m super excited about that. It will be very special as I’ve never played some of these songs before.

"Homecoming", the new single from ARLO, is out now. He plays the Waiting Room in Hackney, London, on 28 March. Follow him on Twitter @IAM_ARLO
