Niall Horan snapped the ligaments in his foot while ‘about six pints deep’

Singer posted a picture of his injury to Instagram

Former One Direction singer Niall Horan revealed that he tore several ligaments in his foot during an alcohol-fuelled night out.

Horan posted a picture of his foot to an Instagram Story and delivered an explanation to his followers on Instagram Live.

"I was running drunk and in these new streets," he said. "They are not like a real tarmacked street, so the kerb looks the same as the actual driveable road and there was a little kerb.

"I was about six pints deep. I was chasing my cousin, missed the kerb and went over my ankle. I snapped all the ligaments on the outside of my foot."

Horan rose to fame on The X Factor as part of One Direction 10 years ago, embarking on a solo career following the group's split.

The boy band recently celebrated their 10th anniversary, amid rumours of a long-awaited reunion.

Horan isn't the only celebrity to share images of his ailing feet to social media recently.

Last week, acclaimed novelist Joyce Carol Oates began trending on Twitter after posting a photograph of her own unhealthy-looking foot, which had formed large, multi-coloured pustules after a hike.

Social media users branded the image "disgusting", with many questioning why Oates took to Twitter to diagnose her condition, instead of a medical expert.
