One Direction have revealed how they will be celebrating their 10-year anniversary with elaborate plans for their fans.

To commemorate the milestone, a new 1D anniversary website will be launched on 23 July, the official date the band was formed on The X Factor in 2010. It will feature interactive and immersive experiences for fans.

The website will be modelled as a timeline documenting the history of the boys from their first X Factor audition up until they went on hiatus.

The boyband announced their break in August 2015, five months after member Zayn Malik departed from the group.

Fans can also expect the release of a 10-year celebration video. The new video will document highlights from their career including behind-the-scenes footage, as well as an archive of music videos, artwork, and TV performances.

A reformatted EP featuring the group’s B-sides, rare songs, remixes and live recordings, as well as acoustic tracks, will also be made available to stream online.

So far there is no confirmation on whether the five members will reunite for a show to celebrate the landmark anniversary.

In May, however, Niall Horan confirmed that the band had “chatted” about a reunion. Horan said on Redknapp’s Home Fixture that “there’s been a bit of talk about it because in July it’s 10 years since the band got together, so everyone’s been waiting to see if anything’s going to happen”.

Liam Payne also said, “Obviously, we know it’s a very big anniversary and we definitely want to do something.”

Since forming the group in 2010, One Direction has accumulated a huge global fan base. The band has sold more than 200 million records worldwide and generated over 21 billion streams with 3.6 billion of those being in 2019 alone.
