PJ Harvey new album: Singer shares preview of as-yet-untitled new song

The album, also lacking a title, is due for release in spring sometime

PJ Harvey has shared a rocky preview of her as-yet-untitled new single on Twitter before its exclusive first play on BBC 6 Music later this week.

The mystery song will be released ahead of Harvey’s first album since 2011’s Mercury Prize-winning Let England Shake.

Fans are also still awaiting the record’s name, but it is expected to continue with a political theme and drop in the spring.

Harvey confirmed the new album in December with a 29-second video showing footage of her recording in a studio interspersed with post-war images, likely from the time she recently spent in Kosovo, Afghanistan and Washington DC with filmmaker Seamus Murphy.

The 46-year-old recorded the album during a month-long residency at Somerset House, where she allowed fans access to study her progress as part of an exhibition.

In October, she performed ten new songs in London including “Chain of Keys”, “The Orange Monkey”, “Near the Memorials to Vietnam and Lincoln” “Dollar Dollar”, “Medicinals” and “The Ministry of Social Affairs”.

Steve Lamacq will debut the first track at on his 4pm radio show on Thursday, with Harvey set to tour this summer.

She plays London’s Field Day festival on 12 June before heading to Croatia, Germany, Finland, Denmark, France, Slovakia, Sweden and Norway.
