Canadian rapper Saint West has announced his retirement following the news that Kim Kardashian West and Kanye West had bestowed the same name upon their newborn son.

Being upstaged by an actual, tiny baby is really a poor way to end 2015. Understandable, then, that rapper Saint West would just give up the ghost and announce his retirement instead of attempting to reclaim the moniker back from the newest West child.

The rapper, who's real name is Lindon McIntyre, posted a video message to TMZ announcing his intentions to leave the music industry stating, "Hi, I'm Lindon, also known as Saint West. I'd like to announce my official retirement from hip-hop. Congratulations Kanye and Kum, thank you for choosing such a beautiful name. Saint West, may God smile on you. I'll always be cheering for you. And try to avoid becoming a rapper."

Unfortunately, it seems like a rather premature departure for the musician, who doesn't seem to have much of an online track record outside of his publicised retirement. He did also post a video of himself rapping to prove what we'd apparently be missing out on, in which he says the word 'drug dealers' a whole lot.

The couple announced the arrival of Saint West on 5 December, later confirming the name.
