Rihanna has been trying to get US President to pay attention to the crisis in Puerto Rico via his favourite medium, Twitter.

The artist and business woman posted links to two videos explaining the extent of the damage from Hurricane Maria on the island.

In one video, a presenter describes the lack of media attention on the crisis and is moved to tears as she explains how there is "no water, no cash, the hospital is completely full with no generators, so they have open windows. They cannot do surgeries, and I don't see this in the media.

"The person that has called me has three kids, no water, and no one has given anything to them. They're holding shipments from here in the US. So I want you, if you see this video, to please forward it to a news outlet... this is something that's still happening."

Posting a link to the footage on Twitter, Rihanna tagged Trump and tweeted several question marks, referring to his response - or lack of - to the crisis.

She later posted another video and tagged him again, apparently hoping he would watch San Juan mayor Carmen Yulin Cruz tell CBS: "I know leaders aren't supposed to cry, and especially not on TV, but we are having a humanitarian crisis here, and we are doing everything we can.

"Two people died yesterday because there was no diesel in the hospital where they were at."

On Wednesday 27 September Trump made a statement on the crisis where he said: "We're doing everything in our power to help the hard-hit people of Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands."

Rihanna, who was born in Barbados, has also been raising awareness about the hurricanes which hit islands in the Caribbean, southern US, and Mexico in the past few weeks.

It was recently revealed that US rapper Pitbull has sent his private plane to help get cancer patients in Puerto Rico to hospitals on the US mainland for chemotherapy - read the full story here.
