Billboard Music Awards 2018: Salt-N-Pepa and En Vogue reunite to perform 'Whatta Man'

The trio perform a medley that included: 'Shoop', 'Let's Talk About Sex', 'Push It', and 'Whatta Man'

The Billboard Music Awards ended with a bang: Salt-N-Pepa took to the stage to perform a whole medley of '90s hits.

The hip-hop trio - consisting of Salt (Cheryl James), Pepa (Sandra Denton) and DJ Spinderella (Deidra Roper) - performed a mashup of some of their biggest hits: "Shoop", "Let's Talk About Sex", and "Push It".

Their performance of "Whatta Man" saw them joined onstage by the current line-up of En Vogue. Even Kelly Clarkson eventually joined in the fun.

It was all to celebrate the 30th anniversary since Salt-N-Pepa became the first female rap act to hit the Billboard Hot 100 top 40 with "Push It", a fittingly upbeat end to a night which celebrated empowered women.

Janet Jackson became the first black woman to receive the Icon Award, taking to the stage to perform "Nasty" from 1986's Control and "If" and "Throb" from Janet.

"I believe that for all the challenges, for all our challenges, we live at a glorious moment in history," Jackson told the crowd in her acceptance speech. "It’s a moment when at long last women have made it clear that we will no longer be controlled, manipulated, or abused. I stand with those women and with those men equally outraged by discrimination who support us in heart or mind."
